Who was the interim fire chief during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake?
I am doing a research paper on the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, and I was wondering who the alternate fire chief was. I know that the original one, Dennis T. Sullivan, was killed during the initial quake, but nowhere does it say who filled in for him. Can you help me out?

What did San Franciso do after the 1906 earthquakes?
I'm doing a Geography project about earthquakes and I decided to do it about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. One of the questions is: 'What has been done to make the effects of the volcano less severe another time or to lesson the effect of another earthquake?' And I'm really stuck, about what they did. Did they change the style of the housing built? Also there were a lot of fires so did they do anything to prevent them? Please answer if you know, or know anyone who would know! Nope no volcanoes, not that I know of my knowledge at least.
